A Little Rant Session

June 11, 2012

I've been thinking about posting this for a while now. I figured I had to be honest with my followers, so here it goes...
Have you ever admired a blogger and her blog so much that their lives seem to be so perfect? Like you just want to
switch your lives with them and have a thousand followers? I'm pretty sure we had at least one of those moments...
Because I have.
I like to write and doodle, but there will always be someone better.
I like to sketch and paint, but I still have a lot to learn.

I love photography, but I'm not the best at it.
I look at all of these things back and I know that everyone isn't perfect. We all have our flaws. But if we look at the
bright side, we have our talents. We should hone them and thank God for them and thank your family for supporting
you. Last month, I made a card for my mom in mother's day (see the post herethanks for the compliments, lovely followers!
and embarrassingly enough, she posted it in her facebook. Her friends and family liked and commented, then one day,
an editor of a travel magazine (my mom works at a travel agency) messaged her and said "I was thinking about
making an editorial cartoon for our latest issue in my travel magazine. Is your daughter interested in working with us?
With a monthly pay of course" or something like that. The point is, I didn't know what to say at first, because I really
never expected that! Of course, I gave it a try. He gave a topic, I drew it, my mom sent the draft to him and he accepted
it! I though he was going to comment on it first for improvements but then he didn't and he asked for my bank account.
Whoa, this is too much to handle, guys! I'm just thirteen. I don't have a bank account. But I'm really excited, I'm
already working on the second issue cartoon now.

I just had to share it with you guys, my little rant session.
Bye now xx

  1. Wow, congrats! You are a very talented blogger and I can't believe how fast your blog has grown! I admire the way you enjoy painting, even though you're just a beginner. I have a hard time with being a beginner, but you've started me thinking that maybe I should try some painting and drawing. =) Again, congrats :D

  2. So true Jainine. I often look at some blog and think the same. Their lives cannot possibly be that pretty and perfect. I want to hear something real, something that will make me think I am not alone. Its easy for people to take pictures and make them pretty and write lovely things... much harder to dig deep and let it bleed on a page. I do my best to be honest with my posts and be me and not compare myself to anyone.
    This was a lovely post.
Congrats on getting a paid job on something you love to do even if a hobby. I myself am trying to do just that. It is an admirable thing and should be proud of your talent. Well done. Pat yourself on the back and smile a little bigger.

  8. Wow, that's all I can say to this! You must feel like this is all surreal, because that's how I'd feel!

First of all, I understand about others being better in different areas in life. We all go through that. But we all have certain talents given by God; and in your case, one of them is art. Your paintings are immensely breathtaking and your doodles and cartoons are just too cute!

Congratulations for the cartooning job! That was very amazing. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  9. Far too much, but that's what makes each of us unique and different. Loving your blog!
