What I Want To Be // New Blog Layout

November 03, 2012

Since sembreak is coming to a close, I wanted to spend most of my time productively. I would proudly like to
announce that I spent at least 50% of my break outside of the house! Now that is an accomplishment, everyone. Anyways,
I went to my friend's (Betina's) house this week and when Audrey's dad came over to pick us up, he stayed a while and
chatted with Betina's parents. When we were eating, he asked me, "What are you going to take up? Law or Med?" and
then I just shrugged, "I don't know yet." But to be honest, I did know. Why is it that I have to choose between two things
only? Just because I'm (fairly) smart and my dad is a lawyer, does that mean that I have to take either the two of them?

I discovered this guy in the internet named Joe. No, we don't know each other, but I just fell in love with his site
and his work. I knew that I wanted to be like him, a designer, illustrator, and basically anything he likes. I read his
little "bio" of himself and he said as long as he was doing something he loved, not something someone told him to do,
then he won't care if he was on his own, struggling, without a job, trying to find himself. I actually can relate to him
in a way, because being a blogger (and illustrator, technically) plays a big role in finding more about yourself. He
actually inspired me to make a new blog layout (what do you guys think?).

Now, what I wanted to say is that, this guy has a point. Just because it's our parent's dream, or our dream to earn
some money, we shouldn't follow that. I learned that over the years, I am capable of doing many things. I can
draw, I can design, I can take pictures, I can do anything as long as I love what I'm doing. This layout of mine took
about two days, and frequently my mom had to pull me out of the laptop screen plenty of times because apparently
I've spent hours working on it. But to be honest, I didn't feel like it took that long, and yeah a few moments I
felt like I was a failure, but I never gave up because I loved what I was doing.

I want to be a designer, a photographer, a writer, an illustrator, and a blogger. And I hope it all works out in the end.
Now, my followers, I want to know, what do you want to be?

p.s.70 followers, eek! This is a really big deal for me, I smell a giveaway coming!

  1. I love the new design! And I think you should do what you love. For one thing, you're already doing it and you're pretty darn good at it too! ;)

There's so many different things that I would like to do or try, so I'm never completely positive. But I know that I'd love to do something that revolves around writing, creating, and blogging. Hopefully next semester I'll get to take some graphic design classes!
