Dear 2013,

December 30, 2012

Dear 2013,
I, and the whole world, am going to approach you real soon, and I just want to say a few things, regarding the past year. There have been a lot of ups and downs for the past 12 months, and I beg for you to go easy on me. My family is really happy right now, and we're going to celebrate new year's at my cousin's house again. I have a feeling it's going to be really fun, because last year we tried using those floating lanterns that almost burned down the tree. Oops. I hope that doesn't happen again.

A lot of people have been fuzzing about you lately, considering the world didn't end this year. I would like to welcome you with open arms and I hope we could be friends, like really. I haven't been this happy in a long time and I hope that streak doesn't end. This summer, this school year, this christmas and sembreak, how can I ask for more? God has blessed me with many things and I feel really overwhelmed. We had a family reunion with my really big family yesterday and I had a blast. My grandfather who hosted it was really happy because a lot of people (more than he expected) came and there was even not enough seats to fit us! We also got to know all of them because they had to introduce themselves. Who knew i had relatives in america, singapore, hongkong, and basically all over the globe.

For me, I think, this is what this season is about. To get to know yourself and your relatives better, to have a good time and just sit and talk to one another, how it is going on in our spread out yet close lives we live. It's not easy having to call out all these people you haven't seen in a year be there and celebrate something you're so used to with you. But I think it's the best way to celebrate new year and christmas. People say it's all about being a new person and starting from a new slate, but what better way to do that than with your family?

They'll be the ones who you need to call when you have problems, when you need a place to stay. Not your boss, co-workers, friends, or anyone else. That is my theory, and I wanted to share that with you. Good bye 2012, Hello 2013! Cheers and God bless :)

Your friend,
Jianine

  2. I totally agree, family are the ones who will be there no matter what. I've learnt that through my experiences in life. They are priceless. I hope 2013 is a great and happy year for you :-)
