What are Your Motives?

February 17, 2013

I want to ask all of you something. What is your motive to do what you do everyday, to constantly push and challenge yourself to sit in front of your computer for hours, and share your life with all these people?

It's not about the followers, or the comment-ers. If it was about them, about 90% of us would drop everything that we're doing and just quit. In my opinion, it isn't about the people that enjoy reading people's posts and decide to follow them. Don't get me wrong, we all know that we are eternally grateful for the people that appreciate the things bloggers do, but it's just more to that. I like to think of them as a benefit of blogging, merely just a pleasant by-product.

It's not about yourself. If it was about yourself, you wouldn't want to showcase what you have to say to practically billions of people out there. You would most probably get a notebook of your own and journal your way through your own life, minding your own business.

My motives are to challenge myself to be a better person, meet new people, learn more about me and other people, and make God happy. These few things are what make me strive to blog, and I think I've accomplished that. It never occurred to me that I would go this far, and I'm honestly proud of myself. I started off from scratch, and with a little help from great friends, blogging is just a thing that I love to do. It's challenging, no doubt, but I want to be inspired and inspire. Take in what I learn and share them.

So, finally I get to ask you, what are your motives?

  2. i love this. My motives are... photography, writing, and running(:

  3. Same as yours, I think. Trying to shine a light for Christ, being inspired, getting to take photos, having a little corner of the Internet that feels cozy enough to store my writings and daily musings. It's inspiring!

  4. I loved this post.
My motives are very similar to yours. I want to write and encourage, and i love to entertain. i want to make people smile, laugh or cry, i want to show them bits of my life and see bits of theirs so i can know them and they can know me.

God was happy the day He made you. <3

  5. Hi! I just stumbled across your blog and just wanted to say how beautiful your photography is! I'm definitley going to follow it!

& I'm only new to blogging, only been doing it a couple of months, so obviously I don't have any commenters or many followers (but the few I do have I appreciate so much!) so I couldn't say they are my motives.
I'd have to say that it's probably the fun of sharing what you are doing & can do to the world - showcasing your talents, and over time you'll watch yourself wanting to better your older posts (and yourself) and soon you'll improve at the different aspects of blogging (photography, creativeness, confidence, communicating etc) and then you can apply this to daily life as well!
