What is Love?

week 6 challenge: a photo of something red // write about love

Love is a strange thing. It is often talked about (especially on Valentine's) but then we're not really sure on what we're talking about.  Just like love, the color red shares the same idea of passion, rage, fiery and mixed emotions or feelings.
But what am I saying, I am solely a kid, what do I know about love? Maybe not to a person of course, but the kind of love I am familiar with is the love of God or a family--yes, I could say that I'm an expert on those two. God's love for me is the most powerful, because (cliché speaking) I think He is the only one that can love each and every one of us perfectly and divinely. To sacrifice your only son just for the sake for millions of sinners, is a really big thing most of us cannot do.
My family is just a group of amazing people that get along as much as a school of fish (weird analogy, I know). We stick together, support each other, have fun and spend time together, and I would never replace them any day. Recently, my grandfather had his second heart attack. I shouldn't be saying this out to the world, but then I would really appreciate it if you guys would pray over or have him in your thoughts. My mom and her siblings have a system of alternatively sleeping in his hospital room. He's doing quite fine now, and I'm eternally grateful. Sometimes, I think my family is the only people I can really trust and relate to.
I learned, especially since it's Lent, that everyone suffers if they love someone. It is a huge misunderstanding that you shouldn't love somebody because you'll get hurt in the end. I totally disagree with that statement, and I think the opposite. Sure, you'll get hurt and have a lot of sacrifices, but at the end you will have a never-ending, warm and happy place in your heart even when your loved one is not with you anymore. That, every one, is what I think love is about.

This line was awesome: "Sure, you'll get hurt and have a lot of sacrifices, but at the end you will have a never-ending, warm and happy place in your heart even when your loved one is not with you anymore."

And I will pray for your grandfather! Hope all is well.

  3. This was awesome. Just wanted to add: I think, by being close to the Messiah, we can also have an understanding of what the love between a bridegroom and His bride is supposed to look like -- selfless, merciful, all-consuming.

    Great post, Jianine. :)
