The Artist

May 29, 2013

It's been a long time since I've posted about painting, or art for that matter. My watercolor was framed and displayed in my art workshop's exhibit, which was last weekend. My family (meaning my mom, dad, brother, grandmother and I) checked it out on the third day, so we had the room all to ourselves. It was great seeing other students' work on the walls, too!

Art is (and will forever be) part of who I am as a person, and sometimes I tend to push that aside. I should be thankful for whatever talent has been given to me and hone it. I get lazy, and tired, and uninspired, but I guess that's part of the challenge to be better. Always know that whatever effort you put into what you love doing will take off in the long run, as long as you gave your best and offered it to God's hands.

 Have a lovely week everyone!

  1. That's so cool, Jianine! And these are lovely photographs.

  2. that watercolor is beautiful, jianine. :)

  3. I adore going to local art shows - especially when you know the artist behind the pieces. We used to go to art shows more often when my husband was doing his undergrad in art and illustration. But ever since grad school + a full time job, we've somewhat fallen out of the scene. I would love to visit galleries more often, and this reminds me.

  4. I face the problem with "pushing it aside" too.
Thanks for the reminder that I should practice it and not just forget about it.
Because it is who I am.

  5. As much as I love art, I tend to push it aside as well. Part of my excuse is, majoring in art means so much homework I'd rather not do. And when it's done, I just don't feel inspired to do any fun art! I have yet to try watercolors though. I'll make myself try watercolor this summer!

  6. That last paragraph was EXACTLY what I needed to hear.
